Good life starts with positive mindset

I'm a firm believer of the law of attraction, thus I have faith in having a good thinking to attract good things coming to my life. Recently heard this from work 'We are prime to things that fit into our theory' and it helps to re-assure my belief on our natural tendency to things that we believe are true.

And I... always do my best to keep myself happy under any circumstances. Even if I was to be sad, I try to shorten the period of depression as much as possible. I find ways to execute my negative feelings, either through music, writing, or friends.

Friends always say I should study arts instead because I'm just not that scientific, I have way too many emotions to be a scientific person. :) But who knows, I may end up with an artistic job in future, you never know. Our destiny still falls in our hands but not the piece of degree we earn, the stable job we think would lead us to a good life. What's most important is our courage to accept changes.

I guess, that's the reason why I never stop learning other things and keep hearing inspiring stories and thoughts from other people. I want to be passionate about life, not just the small circle I'm currently tied in.

I...love life. :)

I love spending quality time with my favourite person in a quality place.

I love visiting beautiful homes!I keep myself updated with the property prices, while dreaming about the day I own one of these places one day. Optimism  and hard work make me believe that I will lead myself towards a financially secured life without having to move in/out at least once a year. I hope I can establish the sense of security soon.

I love the cheekiness and childishness between baby and I. Oops, that was me trying to apologize to baby because I deleted some of my ugly photos in his phone while he was sleeping.

Hehehehehe.

:) After all, my life is good as it is, and all I wish is another year as good as this. Happy 2014!

Happy bee flying past October and soon November

Did some photo shooting of the falling maple leaves last Sunday. Music is my main source of inspiration, photography is another. Seeing things through the small lens simply bring the world to the next level. Many things look much simpler, clean, and full of emotions through the tiny hole.

Moved into a new studio last month.  My previous landlady decided to sell her unit so I had to look for a new place to stay, hence the opportunity to consider renting a studio. Living in a studio is a first-time experience for me, so I was very excited about it despite the rent, that’s the price I’m willing to pay for a complete personal space.

J Now I don’t have to tolerate with dirty and sensitive room mates, and have the whole kitchen and living room entirely by myself. I can also invite good friends for afternoon baking or dinner. These plans cheer me up so much and motivate me to earn more money so that my savings plan is not delayed by the higher rent.

Celebrated my 24th birthday last month and held home parties with all my good friends. That was the most comfortable birthday celebration I had in these past few years. Not only I wanted myself to fully immerse in a relaxing environment on my big day, I hope my friends would feel comfortable as well by not having to cramp with other people in restaurant, wait for long line ups or suffer from a long walk in this cold weather.

J  Since I'm living by myself now,  I think it’s just perfect timing to have a home party without any interruption.

Celebrated with Kareshi on the exact day and I was too lazy to dress up for fine dining after work, so I decided to make things simple and buy take-out foods. I managed to get some onion rings after work, that must be birthday luck because these puppies are usually sold out when I go there after work. Movie with take-out foods with Kareshi by my side, not too bad of a celebration eh J

Tried out a new cafe, Fanbourg, at Downtown with Xin. I love their macarons! The crust is baked to the right texture and filling is not too sweet, just nice for my liking. I’m really embracing tea time with my girls and chat about anything together while enjoying good desserts. That simply makes my weekends more lovely and fruitful.

Attended good friend’s convocation in SFU. I began to go to SFU more frequently since I started dating with Kareshi, feels like I’ll discover something beautiful about this place upon every visit. Haha I found a nice fish pond this time!

Also like how they hold convocation ceremony in an open space, the blue theme effortlessly makes the ambience look more peaceful. Friends joked to me, saying I should have gone to SFU since I love blue so much *pointing fingers*

Woke up to a beautiful sunrise one morning and that gave me the energy boost to start work.  I guess that’s one of the reasons I love living in high rise building, the view up here can be breathtaking at times.

It’s almost the end of the year again and I’d say 2013 is definitely a year to remember, it’s more of a year of mental changes in preparing myself to become fully responsible of my life regardless the people around me.

Two is better than one

I believe the saying 'two is better than one' fits my love life perfectly. Dating makes my life busy in a good way, as things that I used to do alone previously is now being done in two. Knowing that I don't have to try too hard just to satisfy his desire, I can open up myself to him completely and talk about everything. In these 8 months,  I've been learning the appropriate communicating skills to get along with the second person closest to me after my family, and build up the bridge together.

Doing things together didn't exist in my dictionary all the while because I was so trained to do things individually and independently, so well that I could manage my emotions and dissolve the negativity in me by myself. But this relationship is giving me a chance to re-gain the idea of doing things together and embrace the awesome-ness of it, in which I'm very very grateful for. I'm very grateful that unhappy past did not take away all of my faith in relationships, but I took the positive side of it and alleviated the pain by giving more to the right person. Now that I look back, every step I've made has brought me to where I am now, and I keep learning along the journey to become better.

One thing I'm even more grateful of, is to have you by my side :)

Come on over, and we will work things out together.

Last Friday was a photography+dating day, we explored the world's tallest Tim Soldier together.

Home is our primary hang out place as we spend an enormous amount of time staying at home besides eating out. One of the effective ways to make our day more interesting is to generate some random conversations to discuss. Surprisingly, hairstyles appear to be a hot topic between us, I have no idea why~

I think most Taiwanese guys have this long+straight hair fantasy over their girlfriends because having a short hair girlfriend is his taboo. We discussed about this for many many times, and finally came to a consensus on a hair length that both of us can accept. For now, my hair can't go any shorter than shoulder length. Hehe but I'm sure I'll be able to convince him one day in letting me to try on a cool short hair. As long as I can make him believe that I'll look good in it, why not...... right?

Having said that, I have complete freedom in choosing the fashion styles I want to venture in. I'm recently addicted to hats and I bought a few to experiment. Don't be surprised if you see a Hip Hop me in future because I've started to allow some hip-hopness slipping into my fashion styles.

My first time trying on a baseball cap and I love it very much!

Despite I'm lazy in hair styling, I'm quite surprised to see so many different sides of me in just a year, more amazed at what hairstyles can do to the entire look. With just a little twist or adding some accessories and I'm instantly looking different!! That just encourages me to try on even more styles in future.

Never stop trying is always my life motto, especially when I'm getting nearer and nearer to mid 20's, I should totally make full use of my remaining youth in exploring youth fashion ideas ;)

5 things that make me a happy bee.

1. Boy totally understands my Pooh crave and he got me Pooh earphones 2 weeks ago. It's madly cute that I decided to leave it unopened to avoid any pollution and damage to it. I know, I know that I totally defeat the purpose of him buying this cutie to me, but I really treasure it so much that I don't want it to get dirty, not even a bit. ~_~ Help me with my dilemma please!

2. Round-trip ticket to Hawaii at the end of August. Hola, after so much of waiting, I'm finally going to step foot on my dream paradise, and it all happens within a few magical clicks. I'm so glad that I still keep up with the 'die die also want to go travel' spirit and I still value traveling as an important passion of mine and make it happen every year.

3. I'm a small eater but a little bit of snacks always lift up my day. I was grocery shopping for some Japanese snacks at a konbiniya today and I saw something sparkling ( well to me it was sparkling) at the shelf. I just couldn't stop screaming ( lol in heart of course) when I saw Tohato matcha flavour sitting nicely, waiting to come home with me tee hee~~~ Ah I will always love you, Tohato!

4. Had a lovely walk with Kareshi on a Sunday and it was nothing more than feeling blissful. We never really had a walk in a while because we are either busy or lazy to go out. But I feel that staying outdoor, enjoying relaxing talk are one of the best ways to gain the intimacy between couple. Yes, otaku needs to go out and breathe in fresh air once in a while too, I'm glad that he recognizes the importance of doing this.

5. Went to my co-worker's son's birthday bash at New Westminster and I bumped into this super artistic tree which is growing upside down. It looks like a girl doing yoga pose-headstand to me, but some said it looks like a hula dancer waving her dress. Funny how a tree appearance can be interpreted in so many ways, but that again proves to me that humans can be very creative creatures at times.

Anyway, I've reached the age of attending birthday parties of my friends' children, that is such a GAH moment. I can sniff the arrival of my aging process already -_-.

Busy bee flying through April

April is such a busy month for me, and I'll tell you why in a bit.

Friend's friend owns a beauty studio and her apprentice is looking for some models to practice on her eyelash extension skills, so I honorably agreed to become the white mice. After all,  eyelash extension and refills for free do sound like a good deal to me and I have nothing to lose even though it doesn't out great because I don't pay a dime for this beauty service. In return of the generous offer, I think this deal deserves a full blog post so I will have a long write up about this next month! Despite the inconvenience due to extremely cautious handling on the eye lashes, I can also feel the breeze of having these long eye lashes because I can literally throw my mascara into dustbin with these falsies, and my co-worker says I look like a doll even without make up :)

I was badly craving for Malaysian food last week and kept looking for all sorts of recipes to replicate Malaysian food here. Simultaneously, I also wanted to learn more Malaysian cuisine to expose Kareshi with more of it as a way of preparing him for the first visit to my homeland in future. Out of all dishes, I think Nasi Lemak really represents our food variety well and the ingredients can be easily found here. So here it goes, here's my version of Nasi Lemak served with coconut milk rice and rendang chicken. I'm glad that Kareshi loves the spiciness of this dish and gladly accepting the different food culture in an open way.

Boss sponsored me to a food flavouring workshop because she understands and supports my interest in food flavouring. I was so excited for the opportunity given to me because I believe that this workshop will help me in paving my route to food business in future. The workshop was a joint effort between BCFT and Metarom, a Canadian-based flavouring house and sets foot in many countries including the United States, Australia, Europe and North Africa. The workshop didn't disappoint me at all as I had the chance to smell and guess approximately 20 different scents made out of chemical molecules to mimic several natural-occurring flavours. Sometimes I have to admit that food chemistry is unbelievably powerful and amazing in changing the food industry technologically. Best of all, the 3-hour workshop enabled me to feel like a student again and attend lecture with some other professionals in the industry. I'm truly blessed and I know that.

On the side note, I also enjoyed free flow of Starbucks tea and coffee throughout the workshop. OOO I really can't live without tea!

Upon ending this post, I'm off to Seattle with Kareshi tomorrow. =) Shall bring back more blog-worthy pictures during this getaway trip.

5 things which make my day. Simplicity is bliss.

1. Spent some time on photography after a while. Had a lovely walk under a sunny weather , honestly I can't ask anything more than that.

2. Second attempt on making macarons to cheer bf up during finals period. Kareshi is not really a dessert person but macarons are one of the few desserts he really likes so I try to perfect my skills on this dessert to satisfy his sweet tooth. I like to show my support to him through little things, and food is one of them because he appreciates my effort and acknowledges my skills even when I am not perfect. I'm blessed :)

3. Suprisingly found the Inukshuk at English Bay with Kareshi. I've always wondered about the location and now it just comes right into my sight!

4. Sent money home for the first time since I started working. Having the ability to repay  my parents and contribute to my family make me feel very accomplished. :) I would work hard towards sponsoring their trips and go home more often for them.

5. Found a Korean supermarket which sells heavenly-taste chocolate croissant . I guess it's right to say, sometimes the best thing can be found at the least expected place. Such a good retreat after work!

Back to blogging

My first job is driving me crazy and I can’t believe that I just allow it to become the centre of my life for 8.5 months.  Good thing is, this is not going to happen anymore, because I decided to put an end to the crazy life and restore the balance between my career and a passionate life after March.

Call me an adventurer, because exploring new opportunities and doing things that make me happy have always been the priorities in my life. I don’t want to end up being another ordinary person who works for money solely and slowly letting go the passionate side of me about life, about love, and about passion.

So here I am, under life restoration, a change that you can anticipate. =)

Done with school!!

God, how long did I not leave a footprint here again?

It has been so long that I almost forgot I had a blog. Just joking…. but it has been a while since I last blogged.

My life has been so happening in these two months, so happening that I probably would need 10 posts to properly write about these events. Nevertheless, I’m glad that most of these things are positive and have added significance to my life.

As you all know, I have graduated from university! *applause*

It’s only till graduation that I realize how much I miss school and really love UBC. Forget about the tuition fees, UBC gave me a comfortable learning environment to enjoy my university life, which was one of the main reasons I chose it initially. I love how the campus combines convenient facilities and amazing studying atmosphere in one place, so much that I always call it a ‘UBC town’ instead of ‘UBC campus’, simply because it has been expanding so immensely that supermarkets and new residential areas are blooming around the campus. It even has a farm and several museums that you can venture into, in which the farm amazes me because it gives some emphasize to students in land and food systems. Yes, I feel so pathetic about our faculty building and lab, at least the UBC farm does us justice slightly.

If you were wondering, UBC didn’t pay me for this advertisement! It all comes within a heart of an alumnus you see. Thank you UBC for the great 4 years!

Congregation was a special moment, despite of the previous experiences in high school and elementary school, this time was slightly different because it would be my last graduation ceremony in life if I didn’t pursue my master degree. Thus, it marks an end to my academic life, and at the same time, a new chapter of my life to get in touch with the working society and slave myself for a job. Most importantly, family was as anxious as me for this very moment to come. It has been 4 years, 4 years of striving and pushing hard on myself in gaining independence to reach this stage. I was not a smart and promising student, which was why I put in a lot of efforts in everything I do to compensate with my shortcomings. I never expected myself to outstand the others academically, but one thing I wanted to make sure was that, I took full responsibility for my own acts and I worked hard for the outcome. Despite of all the challenges, both ups and downs, I made it this far and it was this accomplishment that made me feel proud of myself. Apart from the book knowledge gained, I think I have also matured quite a bit, personality wise, and drew the power to withstand pressure positively. Responsibility and pursue to happiness, it is.

And now, it’s time to chase my musical dreams and gaining some hands-on experiences in the food industry! I can foresee an amazing life awaits me already =)

Eat green, think green, and live green!

Being a part of the earth’s citizen, I realized that I should do my part to promote some responsible actions that will sustain the Mother Nature. Seriously, I’m sick of people who will only be reminded on the significance of helping the planet occasionally and join the fever just to keep their facebook statuses updated.

‘It’s okay if you choose to ignore about the green campaign and continue to live like an idiot, but don’t attempt to pretend like you care so much about it when you don’t realize your actions in daily lives.’

I always think that the underlying meaning behind Earth day and the other green campaigns is not solely to provoke people on earth sustainability for a single day, but to encourage people to make a change in their lives in the long term because that is the most effective way to save the planet. The 1 hour of electricity saved on earth day will not help to stop the ozone layer from getting thinner, but wise usage on earth resources sounds more promising in conserving the green.

Yes, so don’t tend to think that the one piece of paper, can or plastic wrapper you recycle everyday is not important, because these are the things that exist in our daily lives and make the largest contribution to the recycle use of earth resources.

Come to think of it, I’ve made some significant changes on my lifestyle throughout the years, simple because these things are not difficult to be implemented and they make such a huge difference to the world if every person is doing his/her own part. I’ve listed some of my lifestyle and dietary changes here just to show you how easy you can contribute to the world by making little effort everyday:

1. Reduce overall meat consumption, specifically beef consumption. Beef emits high amount of methane (greenhouse gas), thus reducing beef intake is most likely to be more effective than cutting down on other meat consumption. I like to include more meat alternatives and vegetables in my meals just to cut down on meat consumption. However, notice the key word REDUCE but not complete cut down, so striking for a balance between meat and vegetables is the key to a nutritionally balanced and environmentally friendly diet.

2. Reduce take-out foods and drinks. I barely do take outs because I don’t really like the idea of using one-time chopsticks and plastic container just for a meal. It’s either I cook at home or I eat out. In fact, I even cut down my beloved bubbletea drinks to less than 8 drinks per year for health and environmental purposes.

3. Use SHOPPING BAG, use SHOPPING BAG, and use SHOPPING BAG. Enough said.

4. Turn off heater, turn off heater, and turn off heater/lights every time I go out.Be nice to your landlord’s pocket and the earth at the same time, why not?

5. Accumulate your clothes to a significant amount for every laundry. I know some people love to do laundry even for a few clothes but I personally think that it’s such a waste of money, water, and detergent. If you’ve heard of the water-pouring sound coming out from the washing machine, you’d get an idea of the massive amount of water used for every round of laundry. So I like to do laundry only when necessary and I’ll hand wash few pieces of clothes that are urgent without having to throw them into washing machine.

6. Re-use bubble wraps, plastic bags and present wrappers. As a girl, I do online shopping occasionally and there are usually plastic wrappers for clothes that are bought online. I usually place them nicely in a big bag and reuse them for posting parcels or other use when appropriate.

These are just some examples that I can think of for now. In fact, I believe this is not a mandatory list for everyone as we all have different lifestyles, but we can always integrate and incorporate suitable ideas into our lives to make a change.I'm so proud that the 4 years of independent life did not turn me into a lazy bum but I've become more considerate and responsible of my social contributions.

My point is, don’t underestimate the power of individual mere efforts, because when accumulated together, the sea of individual efforts can soar into the sky. Living a comfortable life and contributing to earth sustainability can be a mutual existence, so have fun living green everyone!

My life recently

1. Seeing Jo Kenn’s growth periodically is really a blissful process. I love how I can gain power from my surrounding, because these trivial things do matter a lot to me. Love you, Jo Kenn BB!!

2. My life has been much more systematic and productive this term. Why? Because I spend most or all of my break time in the library due to the long break time. As a matter of fact, my life is no different than a working person because I spend around 7-9 hours of time in the university 4 days a week. I guess my hard work will be paid off as I find it easier to keep up with my studies by doing consistent work. Furthermore, there are only 2 more months left, so what is so hard to persevere for that remaining 8 weeks?

3. Job hunting has been part of my daily routine nowadays. As much as I’m excited about the freedom after graduation, I’m also worried about my future simultaneously. Life after graduation will mean complete financial independence and responsibility for my own life. Well, at least I’m doing my best to prepare ahead by forgoing some trips and reducing some luxury expenditure just to make sure that I will make it for the first few months of the jobless phase.

4. Your presence. Your presence makes my life better. I really adore how you share one of the most significant moments in my life with me through silent support, and somehow you always appear by coincidence just when I need a dose of you.

I’ve watched a short movie recently and there’s a movie quote which left such an impact in me. The girl said: “How much of a guy do I deserve? Do I need a perfect guy? Or maybe, I just don’t care about the perfection at all.”

I think I’m just like her. I don’t need a perfect guy, but a good guy whom I like will do.I just need someone who is willing to walk with me together, because together is the key. However, a higher level of confidence and sense of security are needed to re-assure my feeling this time, because I really want to avoid making the same mistake again.

I believe, patience is needed for a wise outcome, so I will stick to that.

Wednesday was a good day, I did the one last thing for my past and that soothed my feeling a lot. I knew it was the right thing to do because that's a number that I'll no longer call to, and that's a number that will never appear on the phone screen anymore.

It has been 2 years, without me realizing how times flies with the series of ups and downs in these 2 years. Paulo's quote 'Make peace with your past so that it won't destroy your present' truly rang the bell in me and gave me the ultimate push to do what I should have done much earlier.

Thank you Paulo, thank you my friends, and a big thanks to myself for never giving up every depressing moment which makes me a grateful person in love. I'm glad that everything makes me a better person for the worthy person. I think I've found one, and the rest is all about our progression for deeper understanding. I leave the challenge to time in clearing up my doubt and proving to me that everything is worth the wait.

Confession done。我觉得我值得真正的快乐 =)

Thank God for the gift =)

Life’s good recently despite of the insane workload, I feel like good things are coming my way surprisingly. Thank God, I’m really grateful for the one opportunity that I’ve asked for. Then I start thinking about the 'just nice' theory Val told me earlier, and how it fits into my situation now. As much as everyone hopes that this time will work out for me, I shall not put in extremely high hope to avoid the possible disappointment in the end. I appreciate the good start, but at the same time, I'm doing my best to stay sincere just to bring out the true side of me.For now, I'm just glad with our progression, it's just the way I like to handle things-taking a baby step at a time.

3 more weeks and there comes my break. I hope everything goes well till then.

Life as a multi-tasker

I’m giving all out to music this summer break and devoting a lot of time in composing my own music pieces besides learning about music editing, not only for the sake of competition but also for my own collection. This is not something that I would love to show off ostentatiously because my skills are definitely not matured enough to be proud of, and I’m still in the progress to make this happen. Summer break is the only time where I have full flexibility to unleash my inspiration and put them into words and melody. Therefore, realizing my ideas instead of allowing them flying in my all day long is what my day is really about nowadays!

I’ve actually had a lot of ideas in mind since last time, so it’s just a matter of time and determination to realize my ideas. Everything can be a source of inspiration to me, a tiny sound or touching story etcetera, and I give myself sufficient time to expand on it everyday. Most importantly, I don’t deny about my creativity and the fire in me for music anymore, I unleash them instead.I really want to know how far I could go when I take music seriously.

My recent source of inspiration is G-Dragon’s music.I'm genuinely impressed by his musical creativity and imagination because there are just so many possibilities in his music, to an extent that it gives you a very good picture about the story he is trying to deliver.

OHH I LOVE GD!!!*becoming a fangirl suddenly, blush blush*

Inspirations and hard work are really my valuable assets when it comes to music.

Not only that, I’m also writing script for the first time to prepare for the competition. This is an absolutely new experience to me and I’ve known nothing better than to extract some ideas from tones and tones of music videos, and allow the scenes I’ve created to play in my mind over and over again. Wow, I’ve finally gotten a taste of the frustration of scarce resources throughout this process. I ain’t no perfectionist but having to consider about combined constraints like equipments, time, and results are really killing me sometimes.

Having said that, please please stay tuned for my first music video still, I think it’ll be out in a few weeks time.

34987_427135777200_556607200_5140811_2313523_n

Had baking session with mom last week to make up for the lack of CNY cookies I had eaten for the past 3 years. Baking session can be quite painful when it’s done alone, I’ve tried it before and it was extremely exhausting!! However, it’s a totally different story when it comes to baking with a few people since it can turn out to be a fun memory with more people sharing the work.

OOO I haven’t had homemade peanut cookies in years and my mom’s loving act has really melted my heart. She always has a place for me despite of her busy babysitting life, and I truly appreciate that.

34987_427135777200_556607200_5140811_2313523_n

I’ve been working out frequently thesedays, and I’m pretty satisfied with the outcome with 2 KGs being lost in 3 weeks. I just have to work hard to shred off another 2 KGs for my ideal weight. Turning my gear on for diet again, and I think this will be my life-time goal.

34987_427135777200_556607200_5140811_2313523_n

Of course, how can I miss out these 2 kids when it comes to summer break. Jo Kenn has grown up so much and looks slightly different from the previous pictures.

Babysitting can be quite frustrating at times with the lack of freedom and time. It does enable the thought of giving up on having babies in future to grow in my mind during frustration. And then I’ll come to a self-dilemma and start hating myself for having such a selfish thought. I often think that people who have perfect picture about marriage and children at my age have yet to see the real picture to destroy their ideal thoughts, because I used to think like them too! It’s only until I started getting in touch with children all day long and this experience brings about drastic changes in my thoughts.

Perhaps, I’m not as matured as these people when it comes to handling family issues. I really hope that this is just a phase and I’ll eventually get used to it someday.

Calm down, calm down!! I can do it!

Working hard as always

34987_427135777200_556607200_5140811_2313523_n

Took this on the last day of February, Eu and I were too excited about the snow. I really love this photo because it looks very artistic and poetic, like I was longing for something when I was just pretending. It’s sad to note that my very own photographer is leaving Vancouver soon, and that would mean lesser photo shooting sessions since she’s the best when it comes to capturing different sides of me. She’s just the best!!

Came across with this song a few months back and I really like it, it resembles my past in some ways.

I’m glad that I’ve drawn myself to happiness after 1.5 years of effort. It’s not just about individual effort and I can’t thank enough for those who have walked me through the dark, since it wasn’t something that I could take it easily and wipe off instantly. These hands are so precious because they have taught me that it’s okay to have false belief and tumble down, but never inhibit yourself from a brighter future and better life. Physical self is now recovered despite of the scar, but I’m still happy with the rejuvenated life and finally developed the courage to draw a line between things I should and should not associate with.

每一道傷痕都是紀念自己勇敢的印記。
在愛情裡,依然憧憬,繼續夢想,幸福其實離我們很近。

Close chapter officially. I will continue to work hard. =)

First on-cruise dinner in Vancouver

34987_427135777200_556607200_5140811_2313523_n

Last Saturday was a good good night. I was honoured to become my housemate’s ‘partner’ for her graduation dinner. To begin with the story, she actually tempted me with the chocolate fondue fountain available at the cruise dinner, so I nodded my head without any sense of hesitation, not even a bit after hearing ‘chocolate fountain’! I knew I would have regretted much if I didn’t attend it, not mainly because of the sweet sensation, but ….

I DIDN’T WANT TO MISS THE CHANCE TO SEE EU IN DRESS! That was a huge price to pay relatively to the extra revision hours I would have gotten by mugging at home, her transformation was just way too huge for me to say no.

Seriously, she never failed in impressing me. I felt like my eyes grew an inch bigger the first time seeing her in a formal dress and looking so feminine! Hahah, that was exaggerating of course, but you know the kind of feeling when someone surprises you with something they haven’t done before since the day you’ve met them, that was how I felt.

So I became the make-up and hair stylist of the day to makeover Eu. It wasn’t entirely a difficult task because she preferred a simple style with minimized chemicals on her face, so I just fulfilled her desire with my tools. I think I took even longer time satisfying myself since I tried on a new hairstyle on that day. I made a side twist with a bun at the end of the hair. Hooo, I was so glad that I made it! Might consider doing my own hair and make up on my sis’s wedding.

I’m so glad that I’m being trusted by my girlfriends on my fashion sense and styling skills thesedays, and some of them even put their hands on me for a makeover. It’s only until recently when people started asking about my opinions on fashion, cosmetics, as well as styling which make me feel like I've been developing some new ideas on these things along the way. To me, the basic in fashion is still finding your own style and the attires which fit you best, then only branch out to various styles from the attires you’ve picked earlier. It’s barely about the price, because you make your clothes valuable by carrying them well, that is the market and social price you set on the clothes, instead of letting the pricy clothes to have a control over you. I guess it is a never-ending route for me as well, which is why I’m always absorbing new knowledge all the time. You just have to be inspired by all sorts of things and let them take their tolls on you, then only will you blossom from these inspirations that you get.

I won’t coin myself the term ‘fashionista’ or a skilful stylist, but I’m definitely one of a kind who will scrutinize myself to bring out the potentials in me, for the sake of my own happiness and confidence.

Another interesting thing on that night was the taking-photo encounter. So I met Eu’s friend who’s also majoring in Economics, she was speaking Cantonese to Eu all the while, and when she turned back to me, she hold back for a while and paused. She had that ‘ are you Korean?’ kind of look, and then I decided to break the ice by speaking Cantonese to her and explained myself for the 1849059202 times in my life. Funny enough, she actually took a picture with me at the end of the day because she thought that I look like Kara’s Goo Hara, so she could show off to her friends with our picture! Oklah, I personally don’t think so but I still feel happy to be flattered in such a way, since I’m definitely no way near Goo Hara. I’m happy enough to be mistaken in a good way.

Anyway, back to the main topic, the foods served were dull enough to be forgotten, I’d say, but I still love the night after immersing myself into the mugging world for a few days, and going to hold for 2 weeks after it. It was a good break in the midst of a tough battle. Also, it was my first on-cruise dinner in Vancouver, so it was still exciting to me to enjoy the dinner and Vancouver’s evening view simultaneously. I’ve had uncountable memories in this city, far more than the reasons for me to hate this rainy place, thus I do feel attached to it in a unique way sometimes, despite from all the homesickness I’ve to bear with at the other end of the string. Perhaps that is just the price of growing up, to try out new life experiences, believe with a pure mind, maximize every possibility, and glow with a fond heart lastly.

April 07, 2011

April’s fool? Naww, April’s Oreo!!

34987_427135777200_556607200_5140811_2313523_n

My first mission in April was to bake a birthday cake for Eu. I’m not really a handicapped when it comes to baking, but making a whole cake entirely by myself was definitely my first experience. However, we wanted to make this birthday a memorable one since it would be the last birthday we celebrate together for Eu in Vancouver before she graduates.Being the experience’less’ twosome, Blackangel and I decided to challenge ourselves with our first cake-baking experience, exclusively for our beloved ex-2614 housemate.

We made it a late-night project since it was the assignments’ peak at this time of the month, so we as the ‘good’ students did our best to balance between friends and studies *chuckles*. It was however a busy day for me because I only started hunting for ingredients on the same day, while doing my grocery shopping simultaneously. Hahah, I couldn’t believe myself switching from Daiso to an asian supermarket, followed by a western supermarket as my ultimate stop in 4 hours, just to make sure that I get everything that I needed! Gah, Vancouver can be quite a troublesome place in doing food shopping sometimes, when everything is so far apart, and when I don’t have a CAR! *sigh*

I chose to bake oreo cheesecake since it’s the easiest cheesecake to make for a new baker like me, moreover it only requires refrigeration to solidify the cake, so I don’t even have to give a head on the possibility of baking a burnt product, although the cheesecake itself is already black enough! I would be way too embarrassed to give something which looks and tastes so unpleasant to my friend.

Tada, so here was the final product which didn’t look quite bad after all *grins*. Although blackangel considered it as a shit-look-alike NICE cake, I still take it as a compliment out of her ‘harshness’. Don’t be too proud with your ‘lipidized’ apple cake and look down on the cake which is made from your best buddy- Mr.oreo okay! =P

Blackangel's apple cake

We had a simple birthday celebration with the birthday girl by chilling out at blackangel’s place on a Sunday afternoon, which pretty much matched with Eu’s homely birthday celebration style. I really like it when the three of us have heart-to-heart talk and let every conversation ends in the same room we have it. It’s not easy to find trustworthy people to talk to nowadays, there are often times when I lose faith in people whom I’ve trusted so so much, and picking up my broken belief is what I usually get in the end. It’s not that I’m blaming them for what they have done to me, but I’ve learned a vital lesson about trust in the end, that you have to select your friends carefully and create your own circle to keep up with the trust. It all comes down to simple math again, where addition and deduction of things are the two rules to derive an ultimate answer for your life choices, so you really have to evaluate your standpoint from time to time to get the true call for your desired life. Faith is the call I possess for the people I choose to include in my life, and I’m lucky enough to have found lovely people who are willing to accept my premium trait wholeheartedly. This is my destiny, and I’m accepting it as it is, undoubtedly.

Seems like the birthday girl really liked our surprise, as I got rewarded red bean soup at night!

Happy Belated once again, Eu猪猪!
