Happy bee flying past October and soon November

Did some photo shooting of the falling maple leaves last Sunday. Music is my main source of inspiration, photography is another. Seeing things through the small lens simply bring the world to the next level. Many things look much simpler, clean, and full of emotions through the tiny hole.

Moved into a new studio last month.  My previous landlady decided to sell her unit so I had to look for a new place to stay, hence the opportunity to consider renting a studio. Living in a studio is a first-time experience for me, so I was very excited about it despite the rent, that’s the price I’m willing to pay for a complete personal space.

J Now I don’t have to tolerate with dirty and sensitive room mates, and have the whole kitchen and living room entirely by myself. I can also invite good friends for afternoon baking or dinner. These plans cheer me up so much and motivate me to earn more money so that my savings plan is not delayed by the higher rent.

Celebrated my 24th birthday last month and held home parties with all my good friends. That was the most comfortable birthday celebration I had in these past few years. Not only I wanted myself to fully immerse in a relaxing environment on my big day, I hope my friends would feel comfortable as well by not having to cramp with other people in restaurant, wait for long line ups or suffer from a long walk in this cold weather.

J  Since I'm living by myself now,  I think it’s just perfect timing to have a home party without any interruption.

Celebrated with Kareshi on the exact day and I was too lazy to dress up for fine dining after work, so I decided to make things simple and buy take-out foods. I managed to get some onion rings after work, that must be birthday luck because these puppies are usually sold out when I go there after work. Movie with take-out foods with Kareshi by my side, not too bad of a celebration eh J

Tried out a new cafe, Fanbourg, at Downtown with Xin. I love their macarons! The crust is baked to the right texture and filling is not too sweet, just nice for my liking. I’m really embracing tea time with my girls and chat about anything together while enjoying good desserts. That simply makes my weekends more lovely and fruitful.

Attended good friend’s convocation in SFU. I began to go to SFU more frequently since I started dating with Kareshi, feels like I’ll discover something beautiful about this place upon every visit. Haha I found a nice fish pond this time!

Also like how they hold convocation ceremony in an open space, the blue theme effortlessly makes the ambience look more peaceful. Friends joked to me, saying I should have gone to SFU since I love blue so much *pointing fingers*

Woke up to a beautiful sunrise one morning and that gave me the energy boost to start work.  I guess that’s one of the reasons I love living in high rise building, the view up here can be breathtaking at times.

It’s almost the end of the year again and I’d say 2013 is definitely a year to remember, it’s more of a year of mental changes in preparing myself to become fully responsible of my life regardless the people around me.

5 things that make me a happy bee.

1. Boy totally understands my Pooh crave and he got me Pooh earphones 2 weeks ago. It's madly cute that I decided to leave it unopened to avoid any pollution and damage to it. I know, I know that I totally defeat the purpose of him buying this cutie to me, but I really treasure it so much that I don't want it to get dirty, not even a bit. ~_~ Help me with my dilemma please!

2. Round-trip ticket to Hawaii at the end of August. Hola, after so much of waiting, I'm finally going to step foot on my dream paradise, and it all happens within a few magical clicks. I'm so glad that I still keep up with the 'die die also want to go travel' spirit and I still value traveling as an important passion of mine and make it happen every year.

3. I'm a small eater but a little bit of snacks always lift up my day. I was grocery shopping for some Japanese snacks at a konbiniya today and I saw something sparkling ( well to me it was sparkling) at the shelf. I just couldn't stop screaming ( lol in heart of course) when I saw Tohato matcha flavour sitting nicely, waiting to come home with me tee hee~~~ Ah I will always love you, Tohato!

4. Had a lovely walk with Kareshi on a Sunday and it was nothing more than feeling blissful. We never really had a walk in a while because we are either busy or lazy to go out. But I feel that staying outdoor, enjoying relaxing talk are one of the best ways to gain the intimacy between couple. Yes, otaku needs to go out and breathe in fresh air once in a while too, I'm glad that he recognizes the importance of doing this.

5. Went to my co-worker's son's birthday bash at New Westminster and I bumped into this super artistic tree which is growing upside down. It looks like a girl doing yoga pose-headstand to me, but some said it looks like a hula dancer waving her dress. Funny how a tree appearance can be interpreted in so many ways, but that again proves to me that humans can be very creative creatures at times.

Anyway, I've reached the age of attending birthday parties of my friends' children, that is such a GAH moment. I can sniff the arrival of my aging process already -_-.

Unbaked greetea cheesecake

It was my friend's birthday 2 days ago and I had no idea on what to get him for his birthday. So I accepted his friend's idea of getting him food since I believe food satisfies guys' stomach after girlfriend .

But.. there was another problem I had to overcome with: I have no oven at home!

Ottoke Ottoke?????? Don't worry, there's always a thing called unbaked cake, which involves pure mixing and refrigerating the product. And I... went for that idea undoubtedly!

I snapped a few shots of the cake-making process this time, just to give you guys a heads up. As you can see, the process was really simple, so simple that I guess the only complicating part was to wash all the bowls and utensils =_= Seriously, I hate dish washing!

I thought the cake appearance looked decent given the preparation time I had ( only refrigerated it for 4 hours), even scooped out a tiny bit to ensure the taste was fine before packing.

When arriving at the restaurant, I handed over my cake to the staff and asked her to put it in the fridge. THAT WAS WHERE THE MISTAKE BEGAN! She asked me if I wanted to put the cake in fridge or freezer, and I silly head agreed on the fridge. I thought that wouldn't make a difference since I had refrigerated the cake for 4 hours beforehand. But noo... I was too naive to believe in that! To my shock, the cake was melted when it was served and looked nothing like the picture * MEGA UPSET* It just looked like a green-coloured yogurt T_T

That wasn't the saddest thing of all, what saddens me the most was the remark made by the waitress in the restaurant : ' Did you make the cake? I haven't seen a cake like that in the shops, it looks so 'special'. * glass shattering sound* Also, the cake looked flatter than I expected it to be, not sure what went wrong in the process but it was definitely an area of improvement.

I felt sad and embarassed and that fires up my determination to MAKE A GOOD GREENTEA CHEESECAKE NEXT TIME, IN AND OUT! I just can't stand the remorse feeling of not being able to give my best for my friend due to packed academic schedule.

Here's the recipe if you are interested to try it out! PLEASE PUT THE CAKE IN FREEZER, I REPEAT, FREEZER NOT FRIDGE.

April’s fool? Naww, April’s Oreo!!

34987_427135777200_556607200_5140811_2313523_n

My first mission in April was to bake a birthday cake for Eu. I’m not really a handicapped when it comes to baking, but making a whole cake entirely by myself was definitely my first experience. However, we wanted to make this birthday a memorable one since it would be the last birthday we celebrate together for Eu in Vancouver before she graduates.Being the experience’less’ twosome, Blackangel and I decided to challenge ourselves with our first cake-baking experience, exclusively for our beloved ex-2614 housemate.

We made it a late-night project since it was the assignments’ peak at this time of the month, so we as the ‘good’ students did our best to balance between friends and studies *chuckles*. It was however a busy day for me because I only started hunting for ingredients on the same day, while doing my grocery shopping simultaneously. Hahah, I couldn’t believe myself switching from Daiso to an asian supermarket, followed by a western supermarket as my ultimate stop in 4 hours, just to make sure that I get everything that I needed! Gah, Vancouver can be quite a troublesome place in doing food shopping sometimes, when everything is so far apart, and when I don’t have a CAR! *sigh*

I chose to bake oreo cheesecake since it’s the easiest cheesecake to make for a new baker like me, moreover it only requires refrigeration to solidify the cake, so I don’t even have to give a head on the possibility of baking a burnt product, although the cheesecake itself is already black enough! I would be way too embarrassed to give something which looks and tastes so unpleasant to my friend.

34987_427135777200_556607200_5140811_2313523_n

Tada, so here was the final product which didn’t look quite bad after all *grins*. Although blackangel considered it as a shit-look-alike NICE cake, I still take it as a compliment out of her ‘harshness’. Don’t be too proud with your ‘lipidized’ apple cake and look down on the cake which is made from your best buddy- Mr.oreo okay! =P

34987_427135777200_556607200_5140811_2313523_n
Blackangel's apple cake

We had a simple birthday celebration with the birthday girl by chilling out at blackangel’s place on a Sunday afternoon, which pretty much matched with Eu’s homely birthday celebration style. I really like it when the three of us have heart-to-heart talk and let every conversation ends in the same room we have it. It’s not easy to find trustworthy people to talk to nowadays, there are often times when I lose faith in people whom I’ve trusted so so much, and picking up my broken belief is what I usually get in the end. It’s not that I’m blaming them for what they have done to me, but I’ve learned a vital lesson about trust in the end, that you have to select your friends carefully and create your own circle to keep up with the trust. It all comes down to simple math again, where addition and deduction of things are the two rules to derive an ultimate answer for your life choices, so you really have to evaluate your standpoint from time to time to get the true call for your desired life. Faith is the call I possess for the people I choose to include in my life, and I’m lucky enough to have found lovely people who are willing to accept my premium trait wholeheartedly. This is my destiny, and I’m accepting it as it is, undoubtedly.

Seems like the birthday girl really liked our surprise, as I got rewarded red bean soup at night!

Happy Belated once again, Eu

Happy 21st!

34987_427135777200_556607200_5140811_2313523_n

When I look back into 2009 Part III

kitzel

I went to a few field trips last year (a field trip to a semi-virgin forest to collect data, UBC farm trip, and a dairy farm trip). The most special one would be the field trip to a dairy farm, which fell on my birthday. I was really excited about it, because never in my life had I seen a dairy farm before, what more about the entire breeding and milking process. The whole farm is operated by a family called Kitzel, and each of them explained the different sectors in cow's
milk production.

So with the other classmates, I walked through the whole farm-from the milking machine, cow’s barn, dike, till the cow’s pit(last picture) where cow’s poo is neatly placed. Let’s start from the milking machine, notice that the cows do not have tails because that’s for hygiene purpose during the milking process. Last time, when milk was collected manually, cows tend to fling their tail and splash the milk on the milk collector. Therefore, the tails are gone now. The way they milk the cow is by putting the milkers on the teats. The milk collected will then go to a bottle-like bowl and be kept cold till it’s collected by the milk truck.

Speaking about the cow’s pit, it is as big as a basketball court, no joke on that, and Kitzel family is currently working on using the cow’s poo as an energy source to run the farm. Good thing was, I did not suffocate when I walked near it because it did not have the unpleasant smell at all. Then, we went to visit the cow’s barn. There are 3 barns altogether, 1 for the cows&bulls, 1 for the calves, and another one for the pregnant cows. Lastly, we were taught on the cow’s feed-silages stored in the silo.

There were too much to learn in this trip, and I was really glad to have field trips as such to trigger my interest in agricultural field since it’s directly related to my course as well. ^_^ There you go, a good learning trip and also an unforgettable birthday I had.

007

In 2009,I received a lot of cards, presents, notes and warm wishes from my friends. Mostly consist of encouraging words to wish me all the best in a foreign world. The most touching part was that, they sent me cards on special occasions like Friendship week, Chinese New Year, and Valentine’s day. You name it, I have it.I like D.I.Y things, especially handwritten cards because I love seeing people’s handwriting, it somewhat tells you a bit about that person.

Others sent me secret notes, poems, e-cards and other methods of greetings. And yea,I have a really good news to tell you all:I have a special space reserved for all these cards, so that I can see them whenever I need some nights for memories.
Sometimes I really wish that you guys were here with me, breathing the same air, seeing the same scenery, and living under the same sky, but this seems like asking too much from you guys. Vancouver is like an isolated place, distant 12,781 K.M from Kuala Lumpur, so far that it hurts my butt everytime I fly back home.

But then, I found another good way to express my love for you guys.I began taking scenery pictures to show you guys the place that I’m currently living, the view that I’m looking, to make you feel what I feel, hopefully. I’ve also started my money-saving plan so that I can visit you guys one by one.

For those in Hong Kong (=P Atlee GG will be there soon), NZ (Valerie), Paris(Susie), Aus (My territory, too many people on the list), England (HW,and soon for Lawrence). I’m not sure if I could visit them all, but I guess 1 or 2 will be possible if I worked hard enough.

Just wait for me.

At the same time, please TRY to save some money for an air-ticket to Vancouver, I beg you. At least give it a try!

bday gift

Lian Lian

Good times, friends time

Besides busy grasping the lecture notes, I celebrated quite a lot of friends’ birthdays this year. Perhaps September to November is like the peak of birthday parties since there is a lot of September, October, and November babies around me. So I actually celebrate a birthday almost every week.

First, it was Afsan’s birthday!
afsan's bday

2 weeks later, we had a birthday party for Isis!
isis bday

They’re close friends of mine in Vancouver and coincidentally we’re all in the same faculty. Hanging out with them is like putting thousands and thousands of laughing pills into your mouth because they never fail to make my day with their stories. I see them on every school day and we-the threesome are always together when we have the same class.

Richa, on the other hand, is another good buddy of mine as I’ve known her for the longest period among three of them. It’s only until this term that we get to know each other better and go into much more personal conversations.

So much good foods, laughs, and good times when I’m with them. This,is one good contributor to the fun and happiness in my second year so far, and I bet the good times we share will continue to blast off. ^_^

A gift that makes my day.

Last Sunday, when my brain was so dry and deep fried by Chem notes, I took some time out of the book and tried to fix this:

It was one of my birthday presents this year, all the way from Singapore by Atlee Young.

Basically it is a keychain, but what makes it interesting is that it’s a 3D puzzle. It comes in 14 skeleton pieces, so I’ve to patch it up one by one before it can actually turn out to be a Star or Apple.

Initially, I didn’t think it was difficult to put together the 14 pieces by looking at the size of the puzzle.

But ….but……but…..

It turned out that I was very WRONG!

It actually took me a while to figure out things without using a guidebook, because there wasn’t even a piece of paper telling me how to do it. So, after a few trials and errors, mix and match, I finally came up with the end product.

TADA!!

Anyway, it was really a nice gift from you. Although I knew how would the puzzle look like, I still find the process of putting them together enjoyable, and trivial thing like this simply made my day!

Besides that, it was my first time putting in effort to work out something for my birthday gift, when the common scenario is that the birthday gift is wrapped nicely and waiting for me to open it.

That's why, I really need to thank this person,Atlee GG,that was another sweet gift from you.Thank you so much!

Now it’s my turn to surprise you on the coming 27.11.09. Watch out ^_^

November 06, 2009

Lights on me, it's Bee day.

So I just celebrated my 20th last month. Being a 20 year old “kidult’’, I don’t see myself as a unique individual and how I should be different from the past, because these cumulative experiences and personalities have built up my character for 20 years.

Also, I’m trying to think it in an optimistic way, being a 20 year old is just like living 365.25 days more than a 19 year old. True enough, I feel like 20 is just a beginning of a new chapter in life.

It feels weird to not have husbands and besties to celebrate my birthday for 2 consecutive years. But thanks to the postman, you guys never fail to warm my heart through letters and presents.

It feels weird to not have a birthday hangout, but there was a field trip to compensate it.

It feels weird to not eat cake on the exact day, but I ate a few birthday cakes from other friends’ birthdays to compensate it.

Maybe Alexander is right, when one door closes, another opens.

My new friends in Vancouver hugged me and gave me presents.

Old friends called me one by one to just sing me a birthday song.

Besties and Atlee gg sent me presents through airmail.

A friend wrote me a poem and it was really funny, it made my day.

Housemates had dinner with me and bought me bubbletea.

=) How great is that, for an ordinary person like me to be granted by all these wishes and blessings. I’m not sure since when I pulled down my self-esteem, it is so low that I don’t see myself as a special person anymore, because I’m like you, him, her, and everyone out there, we’re similar in a way that we share most of the fundamental needs in life. But every year, you, him, and her remind me of the significance of my birthday, and how I can be protected and loved.

To me, Bee day is not only about eating cakes or singing birthday songs anymore, but it’s the way we treat a person all these while that counts, that is the cumulative gift we can offer to a person with our heart. When life sucks, a present may keep you warm but good memories cheer you up.

No matter what position I fit in your life, never forget the fact that your michelle, pM, bzz, sis, mm, darmun, wife, munx2, neighbor will always thank you for being part of her life, because you guys allow her to stay bubbly and lame.

So there goes 15.10.09,

A day which was not just about me, but all of you were in as well.

I hope I did bring you good times for the past 15th October of the year.

Still surviving in the midst of assignments and midterms flood

1. I had a peaceful birthday this year, which I will blog about it in details. But I’m really grateful for all the texts, facebook wallposts, e-mails, presents, calls, poem, and everything you guys did to make me feel special on 15th October. I rceived an overwhelming 50 wishes this year, and I was really surprised by that. 50 may not be a significant for some of you, but 50 wishes from friends who are all over the world now make me feel that I’m remembered and missed at that very moment, and it’s good enough to know that.

Thank you very much for that. I’m officially 20 now!!

2. The elder brother of the two little Kenn Kenn (my twin nephews) knows how to address people now. My mom says he’s very cheeky nowadays, knows how to call “ popo”, “yiyi”, “mama” and even knows how to reject something by saying “ ng moi”. How I wished I could be just be there to hear that and kiss them on their face.
* dreaming*

3. I went to a dairy farm on my birthday, and it really was a special experience despite of the unpleasant smell all around the farm, I discovered something interesting about the milk production. More updates about this later.

4. I got to know a very cute Japanese who's very shy, till I don't know if it's my problem or his problem. And he's in my faculty too, hopefully we'll become better friends.

Till then, I'll be back really soon, when I tick-off everything from the assignment list for this week. Stay tuned.

The leaves are turning red

Hey everyone, I just got a new laptop because my previous one couldn't work properly anymore. I suppose this laptop should be sufficient throughout my 4 years of studies.=) I'm satisfied with what I got--> Toshiba U400-061.

Mid-term has started a couple of weeks ago, and I'll be having tests continuosly till the end of Term 1, I'm just a little numb to tests. It has come to one point where I don't grumble for any tests coming in anymore, but just grab the textbook and lecture notes and start revising. That's most probably because I'm used to my schedule and my submission date for every assignment. It's repetitive though,so I'm doing it robotically once the due date is up.

To those who've sent me birthday wish in advance , I sincerely thank all of you for the time and money you all are willing to spend on me.=) I know, I'm still alive here and I'm not alone. I don't think I'll have anything big this year, since I'll be sitting for Biology mid-term on Wednesday night.=) Wish me luck please!

Winter is near, Autumn is here. The leaves begin to turn red now, I shall include a picture of it in the next post.

A Busy April!

I've been living busily since the beginning of March, this keeps my friend wondering what kind of lifestyle I'm up to, those who don't catch up with me often will always ask:

"PM, why don't I see your pictures on your blog?"

I decided to do a little bit of revealing to clear off your doubts, to let you all know that I'm fine though daily routine still continues, but I begin to immune myself to it, and explore the excitement of the day.

Keeping myself busy is a way to lose weight naturally, this works on me I feel.

I made myself to the Samadian Idol's Final, knowing that Winney made it to the final round, I was there specially to support her and inject her with some confidence by seeing some familiar faces down stage. I hope you enjoyed the entire competition, every bit of it from friendship to the supportive crowd, criticism is a way to let you stand out from failures, you'll never get to satisfy everyone, =) but one thing here is, you never fail to satisfy your supportive audiences here, us!

"Winney, bravo and you won for your courage and effort, for always being the singing enthusiast!"

It was another pleasant day being reunited with old friends, they are always the best people to spend a day with.

Everyone of us gathered together before Karen left for her tertiary education to Inti Nilai. The usual lunch, chit-chatting and movie outing to all of us, but it feels greater seeing my close friends who I've not been up together for months.
Thank you Chew Lian,Karen,Catherine,Lester.

How I wished Susie was there to complete the bunch of us.
My sincere confidant, I miss our Sarawak trip!!

There were 2 birthday celebrations in April, with the presence of the 2 birthday girls-Pui Yan and Suk Teng, both are my primary buddies. To make it special, MK and I went to buy cupcakes for Pui Yan, and specially made a CD with some meaningful tracks in it. Then it reminds me of every birthday celebration we spent together since standard 6.

Looks like all of us have grown up a lot! From innocent kids to big big girls!
From parents driving us around, until we drive our friends around ! I'm glad, to have you girls accompanying me during my adolescent time.

My first event job was to be a skincare promoter for Cellnique. Fanny, the one beside me on the picture,is my partner of the 5 working days. As expected, it was a tiring promoting job, attracting customers to catch up with the current promotion Cellnique offers.

I suppose the unexpected thing out of it is making a few nice friends and keep in touch with them. Suprisingly, I'm the only K.L born student among them. Come to think of it, it might be a good thing as I can foresee more local trips to be held in future.

Next job------ Beverage promoter

And lastly....

Them...

Them....

and her..

All 3 of them are making my day busy, since it's almost a 24/7 babysitting job,
I feel that I'm getting older and older in terms of age and physical condition.
Being called " yi-yi" by my niece everyday reminds me of "aunt minnie" often called by my friends- Ah lian and Ah bong , I think I'm really ahead of you all in that case.

Remember what did I say in one of the entries
"Perhaps I babble too much with my niece and nephews nowadays, that I lose my adult side!"

This is what happened when

" Open eyes I see them , Close eyes also I see them!"

Perhaps you got me by now!

With all these activities, I can conclude that my current life is good, confronting new challenges weekly and adapting myself as a babysitter, enjoying the happiness with just one of their smile!

What a busy but exciting April!
