'X-Men' in ubyssey

Last Friday, when I was walking out from Buchanan building with my friend, he told me an unusual thing happened on that day. He saw a military tank coming into the campus and there were someone setting up background just outside the building. I doubted his words initially, thinking it would be some sort of jokes he usually tells. Then he brought me to have a look.

'Okay.....Okay.... Why were there trucks and all these lightnings???? We both looked at each other with even more clouds above our head.'

We headed to McD to grab some food without any conclusion to be drawn. But still it wasn't a bad day to end up with after seeing something interesting that night.

A few days later, I was told by another friend that there was movie shooting in our uni. After confirming with her on the location, I WAS SURE that what I saw the other day was actually the movie shooting place.

This is definitely interesting to me because I've never seen the filming of a movie before, let alone the fact that it's a hot blockbuster which even surprises me more.I haven had the chance to meet any leading actors/actresses in the movie yet, although it's unlikely to have such an opportunity, let's see if I could bump into them when wandering around the uni. Also I'm trying to figure out the reason of choosing UBC as part of the filming place because I can't tell the speciality about Buchanan building. To me, there are much more panoramic views scattering all over the campus which deserve better attention than Buchanan.

Anyway anyway anyway.

It's still exciting to have seen all these as it stimulates my hyper-ness after the dreadful assignments and tests.

How grand it is the view to have seen buses of mobile dressing rooms queueing in line.

How lively it is to see a crowd outside student union building after 6 p.m on weekdays.

How interesting it is to watch students taking photos at Buchanan building without being stared like a lunatic.

Also, how often can I see a tank on my way to lectures!!

Let's zoom into the pictures then!!

Seems like I now have a reason to wait for the latest 'X-men' to be back in action.

The Dark Knight

I was chatting with SQ over our highly anticipated movie " The Dark Knight" the other day while he was online. It wasn't our first time discussing about this movie but we always enjoy watching the trailers for its very cool vehicles besides the impressive effects shown in the movie.

Frankly I'm not a "Batman Begins" enthusiast mainly because of its boring storyline in my opinion. I couldn't help but to turn it down after watching for 15 minutes, there weren't much scenes that strike my nerve and make me feel anticipated, except for the Batmobile appeared in the movie which took my attention more than the movie alone.Let alone the movie, I still adore Batman as a superhero among all the other existing heroes on screen, not only because of his fair share of justice and conscience, he has everything that makes me look upto, something unattainable in real but will be visionally enjoyble to see it happening.

Just like this...

The Dark Knight will be on screen 17th July, 2008, 8 days later precisely. This time, I'm awaiting for it to come , based on many reasons.

Let's start from talking about The Joker- one of the most exciting characters of all.
Honestly I do not know much about Heath Ledger in person before this, but what impresses me is that his sacrifice for this movie, for a one last time. As an ordinary person, not much of us will be willing to turn to an evil person, put on make-up and be plastered on the face, which will look entirely different from our normal faces. That's only a small part of it, he needs to look ugly, evilly behaved, every aspect which needs him to transform it bit by bit. This is what makes The Joker an interesting yet evil character to watch.

I will rate the Batpod as the second most exciting thing in the movie.Although,Batmobile has always been my favourite, before or after the existence of Batpot.Despite of that,Batpod never fails my anticipation in terms of appearance and function.I bet, it's the timing matters as the coolest thing always comes out at peak of the show, just like a life-saver for the main character in many typical movies.

There'll always be a fuss over the movie to heat up the fever before it's on screen. Some compare The Dark Knight to The Godfather, in which I feel it is way too early to examine the likeness of both movies since The Dark Knight is not even out yet.

Too much of anticipation, let's not hope that The Dark Knight will bate my enthusiasm on this big movie.

Quill
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
One morning in June, five Labrador Retriever puppies are born. One puppy is easily identifiable from the rest as he has a birthmark on his side, which resembles a bird spreading its wings. The owner names it Jonathan and hopes to train the puppies into guide dogs...As it is not easy to train puppies into guide dogs, their owner approaches guide dog trainer Satoshi Tawada persistently, who reluctantly agrees to take in one puppy. He chooses the easy-going Jonathan, as fast-reacting and emotionally expressive dogs are not suitable to work as guide dogs.Soon, Jonathan is taken to the Nii household, where Isamu and his wife, Mitsuko volunteer to raise the young pups before they can train into guide dogs. Upon reaching the Niis, Jonathan receives the new name “Quill” after his “bird wings” birthmark on his side.Quill grows up to be a gentle and lovely pup, though mischievous at times, the Niis adore him. Soon, Quill reaches his first birthday which is also the last day that he is in the care of the Niis. This day marks the start of his training as a guide dog with Tawada and also his partnership with Mitsuru Watanabe, a visually-handicapped and stubborn man, who does not believe in guide dogs... Can Quill bring him love and warmth? This heartwarming movie is a definite must-watch for all dog lovers!
